Unit: Manners

Suggested time frame: 1 week

Christian Integration: One of ten lepers remembered to thank Jesus for healing him.

Suggested songs and finger plays: “The Ten Lepers” (Story Telling, pg.114), “The Man Who Remembered” (BB Fingerplays and Action Songs, pg. 42), “O Lord I Thank You” (BB pg.42), “Thank You Lord” (BB pg.68), “We Really Want to Thank You Lord” (BB pg.72) .

Centers during self-directed play: Playdough (make cookies and say please and thank you), Housekeeping (set up dining area and use good table manners), Outdoor play (taking turns), Manipulatives (doll house role playing good manner expressions), Blocks (build road for emergency equipment).

Snack ideas: Gingerbread men (ten cookies, one said thank you); Teddy Grahams (each child gets 10).

Student objectives: 1. The student will use the words please and thank you

                                                      appropriately.

                                                 2. The student will show an increase in table manners at snack

                                                       time by chewing with a closed mouth and not talking with a

                                                       mouthful of food.

                                                 3. The student will practice taking turns.

Suggested activities: reenact story; make faces on finger tips to represent ten lepers; play

                                    manners cube game; Mother May I?
