Unit: Colors


Suggested time frame: 2 weeks


Christian Integration: Joseph’s Coat Of Many Colors (Genesis 37);

                                       First Rainbow (Genesis 8-9)



Suggested songs and finger plays: “Joseph’s Coat” poem; “Brown Coat” flip chart story

“Color’s” “Joseph’s Colored Coat” “Who Is Wearing Red Today” “Jesus Loves The Little Children”

Books: The Veggiecational Book, Colors, Do you Know Colors?, Color Zoo, Joseph’s Coat of Many Colors, A Color Clown Comes to Town, Who Said Red?, I Love to Learn About Colors.


Centers: Art- Create a Joseph bag puppet; Science- (directed learning) demonstrate how to mix colors to create other colors; Guided Play promote color recognition through playing Candyland Show and Share- bring in a particular colored object on each given day (Monday-blue/Tuesday-red)Small Motor -make a necklace using thin ribbon and fruit loops; Paint Center-use easel and brush to create a rainbow; Blocks- build Noah’s boat using different colored blocks; Math-Sort M& M’s by color, then count.


Snack Idea’s: Rainbow Wafer’s (frost vanilla wafer with colored icing) Paint brush coats(sugar cookie coat shapes)( egg-yolk paint for decorating); Finger Jell-O(different colors/flavors) Fruit Basket (Assortment of Fruit with different colors: purple grapes/yellow banana/red apple)




Student objectives:

1. The student will recognize and identify basic colors

2. The student will distinguish between good and bad choices

3. The student will be able to sort objects of like color, and count them

4. The student will recognize the importance of forgiveness.

5. The student will show an appreciation of God’s Word as Truth
