About the Program

Our Preschool Program at the Center is designed to provide a Christian atmosphere in which children 3 - 5 years can grow. The curriculum is geared to facilitate children's growth in all areas of development; intellectual, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual.

Structured Learning

Structured types of learning experiences are provided during the day in the context of a developmentally oriented program in which all children work together to learn about colors, animals, numbers, cooking, alphabets, and much, much more.

Alphabet exposure, color recognition, and number activities all help preschoolers prepare for kindergarten without pressuring them before they are ready for structured learning.

Group times, show and share days, nutritional snack times, and others are times when children can learn from and with each other about themselves and the world in which they live.

New Experiences

At various times throughout the year, the Preschool visits places in the community where children can have a variety of new experiences and learn about the community around them. Places and experiences such as the fire station, post office, zoo, and nature hikes provide for preschoolers the opportunity to explore the world around them.

Play

At our Preschool play is seen as a child's "work," or the way in which his learning takes place. The curriculum is therefore built around children's play, and the room is set up in learning areas such as the block area, housekeeping corner, quiet area (which includes books), sensory table, arts and crafts area, and puzzle area. Children are encouraged to explore these areas and materials under the guidance and supervision of loving and qualified teachers.

Parents

Parents are encouraged to become involved in their child's learning experience at Preschool through visits, Center activities, and Parent-Teacher meetings. Parent involvement is strongly encouraged.

The preschool accepts enrollments year-round, and children may be withdrawn from the program at any time. There are two programs from which to choose:

Three Days a Week (Mon, Wed, & Fri)

Common Questions Asked

Q. "Won't my child get 'bored' with school by the time he enters kindergarten if I send him to Preschool?"

A. No, in fact, in most cases children who have had a good Preschool experience are excited about school, and have an understanding that learning can be enjoyable and fun.

Q. "Don't children who attend Preschool just 'play all day' and not do anything constructive?"

A. No. It is important first to understand that for preschoolers, play is the way they learn about the world. Secondly, we provide structured learning experiences that children can learn and grow in. The purpose of preschool is not to make advanced kindergartners. God has designed this stage in life where many important social skills are developed. Friendships are extremely important in today's society. The Preschool years are foundational in this respect.

Q. "Isn't Preschool going to take away from my relationship with my child?"

A. No. Being outside the home helps to both fulfill his natural desire to learn about the new expanding world around him, and actually enhance his relationship with his family.

Our preschool is a member of and accredited by the
Association of Christian Schools International.
