Professionally... I graduated from Goshen (Ind) College in 1982 with a BA degree in Elementary Education. I have done graduate work at Seton Hill University in Special Education and Reading remediation. Also as time permits, I have taken classes at Westmoreland County Community College. After graduation at Goshen College, I substituted locally for one year. Then I felt called to teach at a new Christian school in Michigan. So for the next two years, I taught grades 4-6 and grades 4-7 respectively. In 1985, I moved back to PA (missed the beautiful mountains) and taught at Mt. Carmel Christian School grade 3 for three years. Then for the next 14 years or so, I subbed and worked at the Mennonite Publishing House in Scottdale. In that job, I worked in production and enjoyed most working with and developing a new Christian Day school Bible curriculum. I finished out my employment there in the Production office as the printing specifier. Due to downsizing, in 2002 I went back into teaching (subbing and doing homebound) for a local school district. In this job, I worked mainly with special needs students in learning support. For the past four years, I have taught Saturday School (reading remediaton) and Summer School. I subbed at Champion in the winter of 2006 and now I am here as an Elementary teacher and work in Learning Support services as well.
Personally... I feel the Lord has definitely lead me here and opened this new door of teaching opportunities. I thank him daily for the gifts he has given me and look forward to teaching and nurturing children at Champion. I have attended the Mennonite Church all of my life and am a member of the Scottdale Mennonite Church. I enjoy the outdoors and book collecting (have now over 3,000 books in my possession) and listening to music. Family is very important and I enjoy spending time with my niece Samantha and nephew Kyle. Reading is a special passion of mine and continue to bring that love into my classroom and teaching!! |
