I was
born in Connellsville, PA and lived in Pennsville where my mom & dad
presently live. I attended Bullskin Elementary School, Junior High
East, then graduation from Connellsville Area High in 1976.
By 1979 I felt the
call to preach and started a mission church in Jefferson, KS and thus
started my journey being a pastor.
I have
been a pastor now in the Church of God of Prophecy for almost 30 years
serving in Kansas, Missouri and Pennsylvania. In my ministry I
have always been multi-vocational due to ministering
to smaller congregations. With that said, I have been
active in different occupations to provide for my family.
Throughout the years, in my supplemental jobs, I have worked as a shipping
clerk, night supervisor at a truck stop, manufacturer, welder, truck
driver, prototype worker, liaison for salesmen, air-conditioning
installer, tester of coin changes, a rough knot sawyer in a saw
mill , and lastly worked for a tree service
locally.
I also
was active in the Army National Guard for 6 years where I became a supply
sergeant in an infantry battalion. While serving there, I learned
the importance of preventive maintenance and servicing of dump trucks,
water tankers and different utility vehicles. With this came the
monthly requirement to inspect all our company vehicles to be sure they
were prepared to move at any moment's notice.
When I came back to Pennsylvania in 2006 I came back to pastor the church
I attended when I was "just a young lad". The first week I was here,
I went to a ministerial meeting and met and old friend I attended high
school with Merle Skinner. Of course,
if you know our school and Center, he quickly offered me an
opportunity to work at the Center. When I came, I just came to
become a bus driver, but soon was needed in the garage. I was
willing to try as an apprentice for a while and as I have worked on my own
car throughout the years and knew what PM really meant from the National
Guard I was able to do whatever was asked of me. I was not a
professional mechanic when I came here but have learn tremendous
information and skills while working here from a lot of "hands on
training" and good information and teaching from other mechanics in and
out of the Center.
Beyond
the work of keeping the busses inspected, running, and safe, I have
found a place where I can do my part to help children get to a
Center and school that genuinely cares about them and their academic
and spiritual welfare. This opportunity does not just provide me a
job but an opportunity to project the love of Christ to students and
workers alike in a very real Christian community. The
Center has been a blessing and a wonderful
opportunity! |
