PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION My philosophy of education has been heavily influenced by my parents and by the Lord. My dad's interest and pursuit of science and my mother's interest in literature and the arts gave me a pattern and a passion to learn and study a wide variety of fascinating things that followed me into the classroom as a teacher. My resume reflects that fact and hints at my philosophy of education. I believe in encouraging a wide and well rounded course of study that can benefit students as life long learners. However, knowledge goes only so far. God has profoundly influenced me to the point that I can say without doubt that no philosophy of education is complete without recognizing that education is incomplete -- and so is life -- without Him in it. He is the ultimate teacher in my classroom.
PERSONAL COMMENT I have over thirty-five years of teaching experience as a secondary education teacher in both public and Christian schools. I began teaching at Champion Christian in the fall of 1998. There is no doubt in my mind that God opened the door for me at this school and I am proud to be a part of CCS. It is truly a school that strives to develop students through godly wisdom and knowledge. Hailing from Dothan, Alabama, before coming to western PA, I fell in love with this part of the state and have made it my home. The natural beauty of the area and its people have become a part of me. I am thankful for all the outdoor activities and friendships it has provided for me. Having been fortunate to travel widely in the U.S. and abroad over the years, I have always returned to be at home under the leaves of Pennsylvania's maples even though my roots are in the South.
