Denver Mission Trip Itinerary

Champion Christian School

March 19th -23rd 2009

 

Wednesday March 18th

Students must bring all luggage to school that will be checked in at the airport. We will examine all luggage to be sure that we do not have any material that is forbidden to be carried by the airline. We will also weigh, tag, and add a distinguishing ribbon so we can get our luggage quickly in Denver. We will also load the bus Wednesday so we can leave on time on Thursday morning.

 

Thursday March 19th

6:45 a.m.           We will load everyone at this time and leave promptly at 7:00 a.m. from North Campus. Anyone absent at departure time will be left behind. With a large group we must be at the airport by 8:30 a.m.

2:30 p.m.           Team arrives at DIA and gets ground transportation to YWAM(Youth With A Mission)

4:00 p.m.            Arrive at the YWAM Base in Arvada, Colorado which is 15 minutes from downtown Denver. (12750 W 63rd Ave, Arvada CO 80004) We will meet with kitchen supervisor and get orientation for housing. The team can unpack and get settled at this time prior to dinner. We have Safeway & King Soopers across the street in order for the kitchen coordinators of the team to get groceries for the night and the weekend.

5:30 p.m.          Joint dinner with YWAM team.

6:30 p.m.          1/2 of team will work at His Love Fellowship Food Bank. Located in West Denver near the City.(910 Kalamath)

Friday March 20th

8:00 a.m.           Breakfast and cleanup

9:00 a.m.          Worship and Orientation to YWAM Denver

10:30 a.m.         Drive to Eagle Rock Mountain Center (YWAM secondary campus)

                         Start work projects at WYAM Mt. Center  www.ywameaglerock.com  

12:30 p.m.         Lunch at Eagle Rock Fellowship with other teens attending School at the Center

1:30 p.m.           Afternoon work projects

5:00 p.m.           Drive back to Dorms in Arvada. Break for dinner

6:30 p.m            Cook-Out with Volunteers of America Transitional Housing Program (intersection of Colfax and Sheridan)

                         We will prepare, serve and share a meal with homeless individuals who are part

                         of this program and in the process of moving toward full time housing.  

Saturday March 21st

8:00 a.m.           Breakfast

8:30 a.m.           Devotions

9:00 a.m.           Work projects at mountain facilities of WYAM

11-2:30              We will serve noon meal at Open Door Fellowship in West Denver

This church sponsors lunch for homeless individuals, followed by fellowship and a service

2:30 p.m.           Finish work projects at WYAM

5:00 p.m.           Break for dinner

6:30 p.m.           Team will travel to North High School to work on recently purchased building for Denver Church  

                         that works with at risk urban teens.  (2960 N Speer Blvd.)  You can see their website at http://denverchurch.tv

10:00 p.m.         Mission Team Debriefing

         

Sunday  

6:30 a.m.          Breakfast

7:00 A.M.          Merle and Amy leave for Denver Airport 

7:15 a.m.          Team leaves for Colorado Springs

11:00 a.m.        Attend church at New Life Church, a evangelical protestant church of over 10,000 members

12:30 p.m.        Lunch at Garden of the Gods Park (1805 N 30th St Colorado Springs)  phone 719-634-6666.

                         Afternoon: Team will travel to see Pikes Peak

5:00 p.m.          Return to Denver area

6:30 p.m.          Have evening meal and attend Sunday night service in Denver at a church that works with the unreached.

Monday

6:00 a.m. Breakfast

6:45 a.m. Departure from YWAM base for Colorado Springs.

8:30 a.m. Focus on the Family tour in Colorado Springs

10:30 a.m. Tour of Association of Christian Schools International headquarters

11:30 a.m. Leave for Denver Airport stop for lunch

3:30 p.m. Depart on Southwest for Pittsburgh

10:30 p.m. Arrive in Pittsburgh

Students will call home once luggage has been gathered and they are on the road. This will give an accurate time of arrival for parents. All students need to be picked up at North Campus.
