February, 2010
Dear Families of Champion Christian School,
With the passing of the holidays, it is time to begin planning for the 2010-11 school year!
Yes, the time we have, to mold our children into the God fearing adults we envision, is passing quickly. I speak from a parent perspective. But from the perspective of a board member, it is time to provide you with information that will help you make the life-changing decisions that occur when your children receive their education with a Biblical perspective and moral compass to guide them.
As the Board of Directors strives to stretch every dollar and earn your trust in the Center and Champion Christian School, there are many factors that must be taken into account. If you recall, a few years ago we determined that in order to remain a viable institution of learning, we had to implement a cost-based tuition plan. This means that tuition must be based on the actual costs incurred by the school. We also realized that in order to keep highly motivated, dedicated, and qualified teachers and staff, we had to provide a more competitive income and benefit package. And above all else, we had to find ways to insure that parents could still afford to send their children to Champion Christian School. Well, Praise the Lord! He has made it possible for us to achieve all of these goals with the patience of our wonderful families, individual donors, grant monies from some foundations, and a Pennsylvania tax program. Therefore, we are only using the 3% cost of inflation to set our tuition amounts for the coming school year.
We realize that everyone cannot afford to pay the full price of education at Champion. We only want you to pay the portion that you are able to budget. We want you to receive financial aid rather than bear more financial burden than you can bear. All of us are sacrificing for the good of the students. We will also continue offering work-related aid as in the past.
What this means to us as parents:
1. If you received a full financial aid package in the past, and your finances have not changed, you will pay only a small inflationary increase this year.
2. If you were not eligible for financial aid last year, you may be this year. It is important to apply if you feel the cost is unaffordable. We are doing many things to give families ways to send their children to Champion, but always in the context of fairness to what everyone else is sacrificing.
3. You will again need to complete the application process to qualify for the program as you did last year, and as we have revisited the program, we feel sure it will continue to meet the needs of our families. Please be sure to complete and return the forms as soon as possible.
On behalf of your Board of Directors, I want to sincerely thank each of you for your willingness to go the extra distance in an effort to provide the best educational opportunity possible for your children. We will continue to make every effort to maintain and improve the education Champion Christian students receive while providing an environment that allows them to see the positive example displayed in an organization that has its roots planted in Christian values. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, you may contact me or the Center’s Executive Director, D. Merle Skinner.
Blessings to you,
Brent L. Fulton
Vice President/Secretary
On behalf of the Board of Directors
