High School Field Trip
The high school field trip will be May 23rd and May 24th. We will be traveling to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to visit several historic sites. We will leave from school at 7 A.M. on Wednesday the 23rd and we should be back at school by 11 P.M. Thursday the 24th.
We have several activities planned which we feel will be fun for the students as well as educational. We will visit the Franklin Institute Science Museum. We are extremely fortunate to acquire reservations for the King Tut exhibit that is visiting the museum. This is a phenomenal exhibit of artifacts over 3,500 years old. At the museum we will visit several other displays including an excellent Mars exhibit. We will also tour St. George’s Methodist Church which is the oldest church in continuous use in the United States, founded in 1767. We will also visit the U.S.S. Battleship New Jersey as well as touring the beautiful historic area of Philadelphia. We will be staying in the historic area at the Holiday Inn at 4th and Arch. The number at the hotel is 215-925-7788.
A sack lunch to carry on the bus the first day will be needed as well as money for lunch on Thursday, and a fast food stop on the way home Thursday night. A dinner is included in the price for Wednesday night. Students may dress casually for the trip and touring, but clothes must be neat. Tennis shoes are recommended since we will be doing a lot of walking. No cut offs or holes in clothing will be permitted. The CCS dress code will apply.
Total cost for the field trip will be $110. This includes transportation, hotel, meals, and entrance fees to all activities. A deposit of $50 is due on May 7th with the balance due on May 18th. The entire payment can be made at one time, or parents and students can make arrangements with the school if they are having difficulty meeting the deadlines.
All students except seniors are required to attend the field trip or attend school. Seniors, of course, are encouraged to join us. All students must have parents sign and return this form stating whether or not they are attending the field trip and return to the school as soon as possible. Arrangements will be made for those students to be at school and write a special research paper to make up for the trip.
Please include all insurance numbers if your child is attending the field trip. Call Mrs. Kerin at North Campus if you have any questions.
