Elementary Speech Meet Each year Champion Christian School elementary students (grades K-4) are required to participate in a speech meet. This is a wonderful learning experience for the children. They not only learn memorization techniques, but also how to properly present in front of an audience. In Kindergarten the students will memorize a paragraph or two of a group poem or story. Students in grades 1-4 will memorize individual poems, stories, or memory verses which they will choose with the help of their teacher and parents. The book of speech choices will be sent home prior to the Christmas vacation. These speeches will be presented next year in the South Campus multi-purpose room on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 during regular school hours (you will receive a schedule prior to the event with the approximate time each class or child will be presenting). Parents and other family members and friends are encouraged to attend. Please mark this day in your calendar so you can be there to support your child. Students are judged according to ACSI criteria on their presentations, and those who are judged to be superior are then invited to attend the ACSI Regional Speech meet held each spring in Sarver, PA. This event will take place next year on March 15, 2013. Check back for more details.
