Elementary Speech Meet

Each year Champion Christian School elementary students (grades K-4) are required to participate in a speech meet. This is a wonderful learning experience for the children. They not only learn memorization techniques but also how to properly present in front of an audience.

In Kindergarten the students will memorize a paragraph or two of a group poem or story. Students in grades 1-4 will memorize individual poems, stories, or memory verses which they will choose with the help of their teacher and parents. The book of speech choices will be sent home prior to the Christmas vacation.

These speeches will be presented in the South Campus multi-purpose room in February during regular school hours (you will receive a schedule prior to the event with the approximate time each class or child will be presenting). Parents and other family members and friends could not attend this year but were sent a video with the children presenting.

Students are judged according to ACSI criteria on their presentations. In the past, we have gone to the ACSI regional event. This is for students in grades 1-6. This year, we will not be able to attend because there is not a local event.
